About Julia

I am passionate about working collaboratively with clients to support them to find a greater sense of vitality and wellbeing in their life. In my work I use established psychological approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy to help clients achieve their therapy goals. Different therapy approaches are used in order to tailor the treatment to the individual client and their particular needs.

I have extensive experience working within the public mental health sector and providing individual and group therapy to adults presenting with a range of concerns, including but not limited to anxiety, depression, psychosis, trauma, relationship issues, substance misuse and eating difficulties. I regularly seek out my own supervision and attend professional development events as I am dedicated to continually sharpening my skills in the latest evidence-based approaches.

In my personal life I use the tools I teach in therapy. I believe that applying these skills enriches my own life and contributes to genuineness in the therapeutic relationship. I have experience providing supervision to other psychologists and delivering training to a broad range of mental health professionals. I have a particular interest in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and am a researcher and trainer in this area.
