About Sorcha:

My aim is to use established psychological approaches to help my clients to improve their quality of life, achieve their therapy goals, and to live life to their full potential. In my work I use evidence based psychological approaches including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy to help the people I support to live calmer and happier lives. I work collaboratively with clients to understand how a difficulty developed, and tailor the therapy approach I use to meet the individual’s needs.

I have worked for the last three years within the public mental health sector to support adults with mental health difficulties. I have provided individual and group therapy to individuals presenting with a range of concerns, including, but not limited to, relationship difficulties, work stress, anxiety, depression, psychosis, and personality disorders. I regularly seek out my own supervision to ensure that the care I am providing is of the highest standard. I also attend several professional training events every year to develop my skills and knowledge in the most effective therapy approaches.

Working with neurodiverse adults is a particular area of interest for me, having worked in a secondary consultation team to support Autistic adult clients in the public health system. In my work, I make adaptions to various therapeutic modalities to support this client group, for instance using emotion regulation skills and anxiety management strategies to help to address the difficulties they face.

I truly enjoy my role as a clinical psychologist and have found working with clients, and implementing psychological strategies, has enriched my personal life. I strive to deliver therapy in a way that is genuine, warm and to make clients feel accepted and understood.
